Logan Lake, Kamloops, Sun Peaks
The South Thompson Valley is a semi-arid region featuring pristine grasslands, hoodoos, lakes and rivers and bordered by the inland temperate rainforest to the north and east and the Canadian Cascade Mountain range to the west. The natural elements that define the region also launched the cattle industry when they were first discovered by the ranchers moving cattle north to the gold fields.
Infused with hundreds of trout filled lakes, the region is the playground for outdoor enthusiasts and recreational users that seek out natural wonders, wildlife viewing and sports of all kind. The region is intersected by the South Thompson River, The North Thompson River, and the Fraser River each major resources for irrigating the fertile farmlands and for transportation. Four season recreation includes a Sun Peaks, a major ski resort, many championship golf courses, river rafting and world-class mountain biking. The Kamloops Wine Trail is British Columbia’s newest wine region and the gateway to the Shuswap and Okanagan wine regions.
