Whether you’re looking for snow, fun or a quiet place to get away from it all, Sun Peaks Resort and intimate village offers the best and widest range of winter activities. As an add on, visit during the third week of January to take in the Winter Okanagan Wine Festival and the many exciting events during this annual event!

Day 1 — Vancouver to Sun Peaks (5 hours)

Travel along the Yellowhead Highway #5 north to Sun Peaks Resort. The Tyrolean-inspired slope side village is both intimate and diverse. You will find everything you want — a variety of mountain-side accommodations, shops, restaurants and activities. Savour the feeling of being just a little closer to heaven in a classic B.C winter resort destination.

Days 2 & 3

Three mountains, one village, four seasons — discover the magic at Sun Peaks Resort! With 4,270 acres of winter fun, this year-round destination resort is the second-largest area  in Canada. Three mountains rise almost 3,000 vertical feet above a charming ski-in, ski-out village. Nestled in a storybook slope side setting, Sun Peaks Resort offers all of the essentials at your fingertips — hotels, condos, chalets, B&B’s, hostels, restaurants and shops.

The hard facts for skiers and boarders is 132 Green, blue, and black runs can be accessed from the top of every chairlift, allowing everyone to choose their favourite run and meet back at the bottom of the chairlift.

So much to see and so much to do! Non-skiers (or skiers and boarders who want to take a day off) can explore many other activities and venues around the resort. Try dog-sledding by racing your own team of Alaskan Huskies down the valley trails or you can ride as a passenger. Have a howl! Or, you can go snowshoeing, a traditional Canadian experience that will really get you back to nature. You can rent snowshoes and create your own self-directed adventure along 12 kilometers of snow show trails or join a professional guide for a fun and informative afternoon tour through the quiet forest. Perhaps something a little faster like snowmobiling is more your style. Join onto a tour of the beautiful backcountry surrounding the resort. For a more unique adventure, try the new guided ice fishing experience!

If you would like to just relax, stroll and see the sites, take in a sleigh ride village tour. Sleigh rides guests are taken on a horse-drawn tour through the village and valley next to the golf course. Get the family together and head over to the fabulous Sports Centre equipped with an outdoor heated swimming pool, hot tub, and children’s wading pool. Rent some skates and go for a spin on the full size outdoor skating rink. Go for a rollicking’ ride at Tube Time, Sun Peak’s lift-accessed hill with its unique curving lanes, the Park is fun for all ages. For something completely different, a Sno-Limo Tour or Cat Trax rides provide an easy way for non-skiers to see the sights and enjoy the views.

Day 3

Your last day at Sun Peaks Resort is one to catch up on anything still on your wish list to do. To take home a personal memento of your trip, you may want to book some time with a Sun Peaks professional photographer for an action shot or a family portrait with the village as a perfect backdrop. Or for ultimate relaxation, perhaps a visit to Sun Peaks Spa is the way to go. BC registered and certified practitioners will create a variety of rejuvenating treatments featuring massage therapy, aesthetics and a salon to help you feel and look your best. On this trip or your next, remember you can design your own vacation package with a variety of accommodations such as private chalets, condominiums, town homes as well as full service hotels to choose from. You can also customize rentals, tickets, activities and shuttles into your holiday.

Departing early in the afternoon, the return trip to your home in Metro Vancouver will take 4 ½ hours on the Yellowhead Highway #5.
