This intimate, elegant event held during the third week in January has become one of the most highly acclaimed wine festivals in Canada!

This remarkable road trip traverses the coastal mountain range, passing glaciers, waterfalls and alpine lakes as you head to the interior of British Columbia. Day 1 — Vancouver to Sun Peaks Resort (5 hours)

Depart Vancouver and take the Yellowhead Highway #5 to Sun Peaks Resort. The Tyrolean-inspired slope side village is both intimate and diverse. You will find everything you want – a variety of mountain-side accommodations, shops, restaurants and activities. Spectacular wines and a classic BC destination resort create an unbelievable weekend of education and recreation. From Winemaster dinners, to educational seminars and a unique progressive tasting, this is a memorable week or weekend in the making.

Arrive and get settled in at your Sun Peaks accommodations. Set amidst the charming pedestrian village, the annual Winter Okanagan Wine Festival is a unique marriage of culinary events, wine tastings, educational seminars, and outdoor recreation showcasing the famous wine varietals of BC’s Okanagan Wine Country. Day 2 — Sun Peaks Resort

Three mountains, one village, four seasons — discover the magic at Sun Peaks Resort. With 4,270 acres of winter fun, this year-round destination resort has so much to see and do! Try dog-sledding by racing your own team of dogs down the valley trails or you can ride as a passenger. Or, you can go snowshoeing, a traditional Canadian experience that will really get you back to nature. You can rent snowshoes and create your own self-directed adventure along 17 kilometers of snow show trails or join a professional guide for a fun and informative afternoon tour through the quiet forest.

Another afternoon event during the Winter Okanagan Wine Festival is The Best of BC Wines and Cheeses Experience with the Dairy Farmers of Canada. Tempt your taste buds with imaginative pairings of aged cheeses like Triple Cream Brie, Gouda, Cheddar and stunning Blue Cheeses with the nectar of Late Harvest and Ice wines. The Dairy Farmers of Canada present their ever popular seminar which partners a range of world class Canadian cheeses with delicious Okanagan wines.

For some outside activity during the remainder of the afternoon, perhaps something a little faster like snowmobiling is worth considering. Join onto a tour of the beautiful backcountry surrounding the resort. Or if you would like to just relax and see the sites, take in a sleigh ride village tour. Sleigh rides guests are taken on a relaxing tour through the village and valley next to the golf course. Get the family together and head over to the fabulous Sports Centre equipped with an outdoor heated swimming pool, hot tub, and children’s wading pool. Rent some skates and go for a spin on the full size outdoor skating rink. Go for a rollicking’ ride at Tube Time, Sun Peak’s lift-accessed toboggan hill. With its unique curving lanes, the Tube Time Park is fun for all ages. For something completely different, an Off-road Segway tour, a Sno-Limo Tour or Cat Trax rides provide an easy way for non-skiers to see the sights and enjoy the views. Day 3 — Sun Peaks Resort

On this day of the Winter Okanagan Wine Festival, two events take place that you don’t want to miss!

The first is event is Rocky Mountain Chocolate and British Columbia Wines. If you think eating chocolate is a decadent indulgence, add in wine and elevate the experience to a whole new level. Join wine experts for the sumptuous union of chocolate and wine. From light milk to rich dark chocolate, there is always a match for sinful chocolate and heavenly wine that is perfect for your palate.

During the evening, the premiere event of the Winter Okanagan Wine Festival takes place. The Sun Peaks Ice Wine Progressive Tasting presented by WESTJET takes place for three hours as you, your family and friends stroll through the village discovering many wineries at multiple venues. Exceptional wines, crisp mountain air and good company create warm and wonderful memories of a Canadian winter. Here you’ll be treated to the Okanagan’s best wines including our famous Ice wines and Late Harvest wines.

Day 4 — Sun Peaks Resort to Vancouver (4.5 hours)

Your last day at Sun Peaks Resort is one to catch up on anything still on your wish list to do. To take home a personal memento of your trip, you may want to book some time with a Sun Peaks professional photographer for an action shot or a family portrait with the village as a perfect backdrop. Or for ultimate relaxation, perhaps a visit to Sun Peaks Spa is the way to go. BC registered and certified practitioners will create a variety of rejuvenating treatments featuring massage therapy, aesthetics and a salon to help you feel and look your best. On this trip, remember you can design your own vacation package with a variety of accommodations such as private chalets, condominiums, town homes as well as full service hotels to choose from. Departing early in the afternoon, the return trip to your home in Metro Vancouver will take 4½ hours on the Yellowhead Highway #5.
