Located in the Monashee Mountains, 56km/35mi from Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley, this multi-award-winning resort is famous for mounds of dry powder. Big White (pop. 400) is focused around two key activity areas, the Village Centre and Happy Valley, connected by a no-charge gondola. Most of the ski-in/ski-out day facilities and accommodations (condos, hotels and chalets) were built in the last 10 to 15 years and significant construction continues. In addition to downhill skiing and snowboarding, there are lots more fun winter activities, including snowshoeing, tubing, skating, snowmobiling, dogsledding, horse-drawn sleigh rides and Nordic skiing. Beginning in 2015, Big White opened for summer activities, including lift access to alpine meadows, mountain biking, events and limited accommodations.
